Eastlake news notes: Freeway closures, lunch at Little Water, Husky football

Notes from around Eastlake:

I-5 ramp closures cancelled: The I-5 on- and off-ramps at Mercer Street had been scheduled for closure this weekend (Oct. 15-16), but that has been cancelled due to high-traffic events in the area and a forecast of rain.

Husky football on Saturday: The Huskies will be playing Colorado at Husky Stadium starting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 15). The usual closures and congestion will apply.

520 bridge closure: After the Huskies are done playing football, the state Department of Transportation will close the 520 bridge in both directions between Montlake and 405 in Bellevue. The closure begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, and ends by 5 a.m. on Monday morning. SR 520 will remain open between I-5 and Montlake. The bridge will be closed to allow for installation of 24 concrete beams on a new overpass in Medina that is part of the project to replace the 520 bridge.

Little Water Cantina begins lunch: Little Water Cantina, 2865 Eastlake Ave. E., has begun serving lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. The lunch menu will be less formal than dinner, says owner and chef Shannon Wilkinson, and will focus on tortas, Mexican sandwiches. They’ll be calling the restaurant The Torta Shop at Little Water during the lunch hour. The idea is to provide a quick lunch for Eastlake residents and those who work here. Sandwiches will run around $10. There will also be a daily soup and a vegetarian option. More detaisl on the Little Water website.
