Eastlake artists: Tell us about yourself and your work

The Eastlake Merchants Association had its second meeting last week. One of the ideas talked about was some sort of event involving neighborhood artists (an art walk, perhaps).

To that end, I'm curious who the artists are in the neighborhood:

  • Where do you work?
  • What sort of art do you create?
  • What drew you to Eastlake and what keeps you here?
  • Would you be interested in showing your work in the neighborhood?
  • What else should your Eastlake neighbors know about you?

You can answer in the comments to this post or e-mail me at curtmilton@comcast.net. I'd love to do a series of articles on local artists and, maybe, we'll find places to show your work in the neighborhood.

Eastlake ArtWalk
An Eastlake ArtWalk sounds interesting, but even though I live here, I have a studio in Pioneer Square and it's hard to compete with the Pioneer Square ArtWalk, in all honesty.

Where could one be held if we did have an ArtWalk here? The few restaurants/bars/coffee shops we do have are so spread out along Eastlake Ave and I can't think of any gallery-ish spaces that would work. Are there any businesses with wall space that would be interested in staying open later one night a month to get some fresh foot traffic that just pops their head in for a few minutes?

If there were a handful of spots in a central location where the public could come in to look at art and maybe purchase a snack, beverage, knick-knack or whatever else the business may sell I think this could work. Ideally, it would benefit both the artists and the businesses who own the space.
