UPDATE: This post has been updated since first published to note that the Lake Union shoreline cleanup is Sunday morning.
There are two chances to volunteer on outdoor projects in Eastlake this weekend:
– The Eastlake P-Patch expansion project continues. There will be work parties on Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. each day. Bring gloves and a water bottle. Rebecca Partington says they’ll be digging a trench and need someone who can pick up the trenching machine. You’ll need a car or truck with a trailer hitch and you should pick up the machine before noon at Hertz Equipment Rental on Leary Way in Fremont/Ballard. If you can get the machine, call Giff at 206-860-9293 (home) or 206-755-5854 (cell).
Partington says the Eastlake Starbucks will be partnering with the expansion project on Oct. 17:
“Bret Tiderman is the new manager and has been most helpful in getting this set up and getting Starbucks employees to volunteer along with us. Starbucks will also contribute funds toward our project based on the number of people who come and how long they stay. They will provide food and beverages too! So we hope that you might come especially on the 17th.”
Sign up at the Eastlake Starbucks if you can help, she adds.
– Lake Union shoreline cleanup: Chris Leman is organizing a work party to clean and weed the Lake Union shoreline between NOAA and the Lake Union Drydock, 1500 and 1600 blocks of Fairview Ave. E., on Sunday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring gloves and sturdy shoes.
They could use some donations: wire fencing (cyclone too heavy, chicken wire OK but a little heavier would be good) to protect trees from beavers. Leave it down by the site. Also, rakes and cash donations to pay for plants to be put in next month.
If you can help, contact Chris at 206-322-5463 or cleman (at) oo.net.
