Sitka & Spruce moving? Everyone says 'yes,' but ...

... not the folks at Sitka & Spruce. Every time I ask them about the repeated rumors and blog reports that the acclaimed (but tiny) Eastlake restaurant is moving to the Melrose Project (1551 and 1531 Melrose Ave. on Capitol Hill) the response is: "Nothing to report at this point." Which isn't "yes" but it isn't "no" either.

Latest entry in the blog reports of Sitka & Spruce's plans: Nancy Leson's "All You Can Eat" blog on the Seattle Times web site. Leson reports that Tamara Murphy of Brasa in Belltown will be opening a new place in the Melrose Project: Terra Plata. Leson says:

Terra Plata will stand at the apex of the triangular building, and Murphy's jazzed to count as her new Melrose Project-neighbor another culinary icon, Matt Dillon -- whose Sitka & Spruce will relocate from its unlikely little Eastlake location.

"I'm so excited to be in the same building with Matt on one end and me on the other," says Murphy.

Capitol Hill Seattle reported in April that Matt Dillon of Sitka & Spruce, would leave a sandwich behind on Eastlake. In August, CHS said Sitka & Spruce would open in the new location next March. And the Slog presents the move as a known fact in its reporting from a couple of weeks on Terra Plata.

So, stick around as we wait for the sauce to thicken on this story.
