Welcome to your Eastlake news blog

Greetings! Glad you could join us. Eastlake Ave. is the news and community blog for Seattle's Eastlake neighborhood. We need your help to make it a success.

I'm a long-time print journalist, most recently with the Seattle P-I (and we all know how that ended). Since the sale of the P-I was announced in January, I've been meeting members of Seattle's blogging community and learning what they're up to. One focus is to bring journalism to the community by using blogs as the publishing tool instead of printing presses. Which sounds like a great idea to me.

So, I'm launching this blog as a place for those of us in Eastlake to talk about and report on our community. The site needs your participation (news, photos, comment, etc.) to make it go. I'll provide some of the content but I'm looking for suggestions, input and other members of the neighborhood to help out. Become a member (it's free) and share what you know and love about Eastlake.

In my case, I'm currently in my third turn at living in the Eastlake neighborhood, and I think this time it's going to stick! I've lived on a houseboat on Fairview, in an apartment on Minor and now in a condo on Franklin. I was meant to be here.

If you have questions, please get in touch. My e-mail is under the About Us tab. Thanks for checking the site out!

welcome, neighbor
Glad to see Eastlake finally getting the coverage it deserves.

Get to know ya
Howdy, neighbors. Glad to see an Eastlake blog up and running. My partner and have been on Minor for almost 4 years now, and I really feel that I've failed to get to know many folks in the neighborhood, so hopefully this will help start some conversations.

In true Seattle fashion, I've got a new/old/retro alternative transportation idea for the neighborhood -- how about a funicular that will whisk Eastlakers up Capitol Hill to Broadway? I've walked it several times, but am often just not up for that hill. Any takers for that idea? We could be as cool as Pittsburgh!
